KIND Signs MOU with the Korea Patent Attorneys Association to Strengthen Korean Companies' Competitiveness in Overseas Infrastructure Projects

 - Combining KIND's overseas business network with KPAA's expertise to enhance the intellectual property capabilities of Korean companies participating in overseas investment and development projects -

The Korea Overseas Infrastructure & Urban Development Corporation (hereinafter "KIND", President Kim Bok-hwan) announced that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Korea Patent Attorneys Association (President Jeon Jong-hak) on August 26 to strengthen the competitiveness of Korean companies in overseas infrastructure projects.

The agreement was established to link the overseas business network of KIND with the Association's expertise in intellectual property (IP), thereby helping Korean companies engaged in overseas investment and development projects resolve IP-related difficulties and strengthen their response capabilities.

KIND is a specialized institution supporting investment and development projects in the overseas infrastructure and urban development sectors, assisting Korean companies' participation in overseas projects through project discovery and development as well as investment and financial support. Drawing on its extensive experience and networks in overseas projects, KIND supports domestic companies in entering global markets.

The Korea Patent Attorneys Association is a statutory organization composed of patent attorneys with expertise in intellectual property. It carries out a wide range of activities to protect and utilize IP rights — including patents, trademarks, and designs — to advance related institutional frameworks, and to enhance the professional capabilities of patent attorneys.

Under the agreement, the two organizations plan to expand cooperation across various areas, including: ▲ IP advisory services and dispute response support for overseas investment and development projects; ▲ IP consulting for companies jointly advancing into overseas markets; ▲ connections to IP experts and information; and ▲ joint seminars and training programs.

In particular, when companies pursuing overseas projects require professional IP advice, the two organizations will work together to link KIND's corporate support network with the Association's expertise, enabling smoother access to the necessary information and consultation.

KIND expects the agreement to help reduce the potential for IP-related disputes and strengthen the response capabilities of companies participating in overseas investment and development projects. The two organizations plan to continue their cooperation so that small and medium-sized enterprises, which often face relatively limited access to professional advice when expanding overseas, can receive the IP support they need.

Kim Bok-hwan, President of KIND, stated, "As Korean companies expand their participation in overseas projects, both interest in intellectual property and the importance of professional responses are growing.
